The paper discusses how, while Macedonia declares its self as an EU hopeful, discontent following the latest EU Council meeting may fuel EU skepticism. The state leadership says it will continue to pursue an EU agenda, but at the same time repeats that it will not sacrifice the identity and the dignity of the nation in order to integrate with the EU.

The judiciary remains a dark spot for Macedonia. At its latest meeting the EU council greeted the progress the country has made in this area, but noted that constant efforts must be put in fighting corruption and in maintaining an independent and impartial judiciary.

Financial experts lash out at a plan put forward by Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski to form one body that will regulate banks, insurance companies, the stock exchange and investment and pension funds, calling it a monster-institution that would control all money flow in the country and allow a small group of people to permanently stay in power.
