2009 was exceptionally difficult year for Macedonia due to the global economic crisis that left mark on the home economy but also because of the Greeek blockade of the country on its way to NATO and EU, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said. He said he hopes the global crisis will soon end, which according to him would set the country back on the course of economic revival from the previous two years of his rule.

Some of the economic experts that the daily consulted say that the effects of the global economic downturn will hit the country hardest in 2010. The first three months will bring most difficulties due to the expected wave of price increases and job cuts.
