Macedonia Press Review ' April 28, 2010

Here are the top stories in Macedonia’s main newspapers. Balkan Insight has not verified the reports and cannot vouch for their accuracy.

DNEVNIK

The Macedonian state administration is too bulky, politically influenced and slow, the daily writes. For years the situation has remained unchanged because the parties in power always put their political interests first when it comes to the administration and use it to employ their members and sympathizers, observers say for the newspaper.

UTRINSKI VESNIK

The newspaper reports on public speculation that the government is considering increasing the age threshold for receiving a retirement pension from 62 to 65 for women and from 64 to 67 for men. Local media speculate that the government proposal comes because the treasury of the State Pension Fund is declining with each passing year and thus the government is now calculating how much money it will spare with this amendment.
