The Greek Federation of Customs Employees is set to strike on Thursday and Friday.
The Charge d'affaires of the General Consulate of Bulgaria to Thessaloniki, Lachezar Ivanov, reported that he still had no official information about the proposed strike but he said that traffic jams and further problems were expected at the border crossings.
This strike would add to the current chaos, which includes a 5 kilometre line of Bulgarian trucks blockaded at the Kulata-Promahon border crossing point between Bulgaria and Greece due to protesting Greek farmers. The farmers strike has been underway for the past three weeks.
Macedonian police also issued a warning to traveling citizens to modify their travel plans in light of the announced strike.
Businessmen from both countries say that that their ventures have suffered losses due to the recent blockades of the border with Greece.
