Kosovo Police have said the bodies of two dead Serbs discovered in a village on Monday belong to a man who committed suicide and his wife, who he murdered.

"Based on the preliminary investigation ...  G.M. was strangled with a rope by her husband B.M. and then the latter is suspected of committing suicide with the weapon [a knife] that was also found in the vicinity," the police said.

Police said this version of events could change after the autopsy, further examination of the evidence obtained from the scene and after the results of investigations.

They said they suspected the man was suffering from psychological problems for a long period.

The two bodies were found dead on Monday evening in the village of Babimost/Babin Most, in the Obiliq/Obilic municipality.

Unexplained deaths of Kosovo Serbs remain a sensitive topic in Kosovo, where many Serbs were killed in reprisal actions after the war of independence in the late 1990s.

However, ethnic-related killings have become very rare in the country in recent years.

Talk about it!
