Montenegro is one step closer to joining the World Trade Organisation after completing a successful dialogue with the Ukraine’s deputy economy minister yesterday.
Montenegrin Economy Minister Vladimir Kavaric met with the Ukrainian Deputy Economy Minister Vadym Kopylov on Wednesday to discuss the ending of the Ukraine’s block on Montenegro’s accession to the World Trade Organisation.
The meeting saw the Ukrainian side accept mutual positions agreed so far and continue to negotiate an agreement on free trade, according to a statement issued by the government of Montenegro.
The statement also noted that the result of the negotiations marked the highest point in the past two and a half years in the two countries’ relations.
Previously, the Ukraine vetoed Montenegro's WTO accession by refusing to sign a bilateral agreement and requesting additional explanations of legislation in the fields of agriculture, industry, goods and services.
