Police found and detonated a hand grenade at Kosovo’s Ministry of Trade on Monday morning.
The building and neighbouring houses in the Sunny Hill area of Pristina were evacuated while police carried out a controlled explosion.
“The explosive device was found at 8 am when the employees were reporting to work,” ministry spokesperson Arta Istrefi told BIRN, describing the incident as “a serious assault against the country’s institutions.”
No one was injured and no damage was caused by the explosion.
The grenade had been placed at the back entrance of the ministry by the offices of the Kosovo Agency for Business Registry (ARBK) – an area that is under video surveillance.
Police are continuing their investigation and have not yet identified a suspect.
To keep its reform policy credible for investors, the government must find common ground with the IMF and look for a new arrangement, experts say.
