A five-year-old boy, kidnapped from his Pristina home on Thursday morning, has been returned to his parents by police.
According to Kosovo police, the boy was taken from his bed at 7.30am by an unknown person. Police said the child’s mother tried to fight off the kidnapper before the boy was abducted.
The father of the child is Skender Zatriqi, a surgeon working at Pristina's main hospital.
Kosovo Police said the child was found in a different area of Pristina by two members of the public, who handed him over to police.
Kidnapping is on the rise in Kosovo, although to date cases have mostly involved businessmen being held for ransom.
One case last year involved an elderly millionaire from western Kosovo who was taken from his car on the main Pristina to Peja highway.
He was released after more then 30 days and it is still unknown how much money was paid for his release.
Both communities in Kosovo blame politics for the trial of Fatmir Limaj - though from diametrically opposing points of view.
