An overnight blaze has caused extensive damage in Bulgaria’s popular seaside resort Golden Sands, near the city of Varna on the Black Sea.
The flames swept through a bar and nearby stores, completely destroying them. Despite the huge damage, there are no reported fatalities or injuries.
Blagomira Alexandrova, Varna Municipal Councillor, witnessed the incident.
According to the local media, Alexandrova said that it took hours for the fire fighters to locate water mains. She described the whole organisation as poor while the attitude of police officers was "disgusting."
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Donors spent hundreds of thousands of euro building a new museum in Gjirokastra - but the results were questionable and it ultimately closed over an ideological dispute.
