Croatian PM to Meet Pope Benedict XVI

Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor is scheduled to meet with Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican on Saturday.

The prime minister of Croatia, a country whose citizens are mainly Roman Catholic, will have a private audience with the leader of the Roman Catholic church, though it is not known what they will discuss.

The first Croatian president, Franjo Tudjman, met with the late Pope John Paul II in 1991 and former President Stjepan Mesic met with Pope Benedict XVI in November 2009, according to the Croatian Times. Former Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader met with the late Pope John Paul II and with Pope Benedict XVI on several occasions.
