Capturing Pristina’s Street Style

Armed with just a camera, a team of young fashionistas have been chronicling Pristina’s own particular slant on fashion through the website Pristina Street Fashion.

“I didn’t know how people would react to this project and if they would mind us taking photos,” added Isuf Shala, known as Jussa, who set up Pristina Street Fashion last year.

Little did he know that less than a year later it would have a 25,000-strong following on Facebook and that each photo would attract hundreds of comments.

“I was surprised how people from Pristina were glad to be part of our fashion site.”

Work started on the idea in May 2011, and by July the site was ready to go live.“I did not cost much beside the expensive camera we needed. And I, together with my friends, made our idea a reality, and a mirror for the world on how beautiful people in Pristina look,” he continued.

“I was alone when I started to work on this website, and now our team consist of ten members, who work on design, layout, and blogs.” He hopes that the photos will be turned into a magazine in the future.

“We have started one-day tours in other cities too, like we’ve been in Mitrovica, and we plan to visit other cities too, but these tours happen only for a day,” he added.

“Our target is mainly Pristina as we know fashion is based here, and we see a lot of stylish people, who dress very beautifully, in a creative way.

“We want to promote that creativity and style,” said Jussa.
