The nine year-old Marko Calasan from the Macedonian capital Skopje has become the world's youngest certified computer systems administrator after passing Microsoft's exams for Information Technologies professionals.
The young computer whiz already made it into the media three years ago when at the age of six he got his first systems administrator credentials from Microsoft. Now he is the youngest Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.
In a
video interview for CNET news, Calasan talks about his current gig managing a nonprofit's computer systems as well as his dream of moving to the United States.
His latest project is trying to devise a way to send high-definition television signals over a comparatively slow network infrastructure. To support his effort, a Macedonian telecommunications company has given him a direct connection to its network backbone, local Makfax news agency reported.
Marko argues that even over a basic DSL connection one can get HDTV without glitches.
"The buffering will be very short," he said. Marko hopes to demonstrate the technology at this year's CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany.
He says he would not have made it so far in the IT world without the support of his dad.
