Roadblocks set up by farmers to protest against a lack of financial support have been dismantled after government talks resulted in improvements for farmers.
The government agreed on Monday to adopt changes within the Programme of Expenditure of Funds for Farmers for the current year.
These changes relate to financial incentives to be provided to farmers for cattle breeding, the production of freshwater and saltwater fish and incentives for corn farming.
The amended programme also planned for the payment of outstanding incentives for 2010.
After the government’s decision was announced, farmers suspended their protests and unblocked the five border crossings they had obstructed connecting Bosnia’s motorways with Croatia.
Yesterday’s blockade caused a huge traffic jam as many Bosnians tried to cross the border in 30-degree heat to the Croatian coast for their summer holidays.
