One woman was killed and another injured in an explosion on Monday morning at the market place in Bihac, northwest Bosnia, police said.

“Both women were taken to hospital around 7.30am. Sabina Dulic was in a critical condition and was transfered to the operation room where she died during an operation around 9am,” the spokesperson of the Bihac Cantonal hospital, Maja Dizdaric, said.

Izeta Dulic's life was not in danger and she was remaining in hospital for treatment to a leg injury, Dizdaric added.

Police are investigating the case and have not yet carried out any arrests.

“We are working hard on the investigation and have some clues, which are not for public disclosure since the investigation is ongoing,” Marjan Simic of the Una-Sana Canton said.

A witness said an explosive device was activated early in the morning when one of the women was setting up a stand to sell fruits and vegetables.
