In the coming days large parts of the Balkan Peninsula should expect extremely hot weather, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 39 degrees Celsius, meteorologists warn.
The heat wave coming from northern Africa will also cover parts of Central Europe.
Health institutions across the region recommend staying away from direct sun exposure during the day. Wearing light clothes is also recommended, as well as hats and sunglasses.
Doctors urge people to consume less food and more water in the event of a heat wave, while beverages containing caffeine and alcohol should be avoided.
